6 cylinder 300 engine life expectancy
With reasonable / proper maintenance, what is the life expectancy of the engine found in the 300SE, SEL, etc.?
I may look at one with 200,000 miles in the color that I like, though my trusted mechanic said these are good for about 225 or 250k with really good history. Given the amount I drive per year, this may only mean 1.5 to 2 years before it smokes or does whatever an old engine might do. Thanks! |

With that kind of mileage you could blow it the day after you buy it ... take off enough for new head, chain, etc at a minimum ... I would probably not consider it without taking off about $6-8K for a new engine.
