New E and CLK delivery irritations - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

Just had a call from my local dealer. Things must be pretty good at MB, as delivery of my new E Class has been delayed from end of December to end of February. I ordered in June.

On top of that, he told me we had made a mistake when ordering it. The Harman Kardon 12-speaker sound system (option810) can only be ordered in combination with one of the two expensive radios that include navigation systems which I do not need or want. (Options 525 or 527). The price list confirms this. Anyone know whether there is a technical reason for this, or is it just marketing?

The CLK convertible, ordered in July for April delivery has been pushed back to June. Anyone know whether the 7-speed box will be available for the 500 engine by then? I understood that some firewall modification has to be made, and it was not certain whether it would happen.

Man that's a hell of a long wait for a car. Is MB building all cars by hand now

My 2003 took about two and half months. I used to have a E46 328 that took about the same time also. In the States you can order the HK sound separately or as a package with the sunroof if my memory is correct. You will like the HK sound

For the E, it's the 4WD that is causing the delay. Demand has greatly exceeded supply since they made it available on the S and C as well.

For the CLK convertible, it's just demand.

E-Class arriving in 2 - 3 weeks. CLK now in late April instead of June, after much whining. Factory confirms that they cannot fit the Harman Kardon sound in the 211 without the satnav system under any circumstances. Need certain stocks to keep going up so that I don't have to sell the SL before the CLK arrives.
