Question 230 Kompressor- longevity/reliability

Hi All-

Did a search for some info on the 230 kompressor engine (I am considering it as installed in the C-class 99-2000), and all I could find were some really old threads- thought I would re-introduce the topic now that some of you might have some mileage on your kompressor engines:

How reliable has this engine been for you, especially relating to the supercharger? Also, any commentary on the C-class is welcome, though you SLK owners are free to comment on your Kompressor engines too-

Just wondering how these engines are holding up-

Thanks,

JAS

I think the C class is a well put-together car and is very reilable. Mine has been trouble-free and provided excellent service. While I don't have the compressor engine, I do believe it is a good engine from what I have heard.

My sister has a 2000 model year C230 Kompressor bought new.
Car is a blast to drive, very tight and responsive. Hasn't required anything beyond routine maintenance throughout four plus years of local commuting and travel team fast pitch softball (my two nieces).

Well, since I have sunk so much money into the 84 300TD, I think I will now keep it. It is essentially restored and perfect at this point, and nobody will ante up the $ it's worth, so I think I am out of the C230K market for the time being....

Mom's 2002, 6 spd Kompressor has 25K miles and runs great except for the driver's window doesn't roll. Getting fixed under full warranty. The dealership, a small local one, gives her great service. Her first M-B. Before that it was Datsun then Nissans and later Mitsus (Challenger and Talon). We finally talked her into a getting a more staid car, we thought. Then she comes home with a Kompressor 6 spd. What can you do?

She asked an awful lot of questions about the electronics (Mom is now 86 yrs) and they've always been very patient and helpful. The salesman always greets her and helps her with whatever she needs. She plans to buy another M-B when she wears this one out.

She likes the car a lot but find all the electronics way over-done. She just wants her AM radio and CD player.

Alexandria, LA.
