I doubt I'm the first to discover this, but I've found that the service CD (W124 at least) contains a lot of info that doesn't seem to be readily accesible via the html menu system. For example, the "X:/Program/Engine/103" contains a ton of .pdf files that, from their prefix (01, 03, 05, etc.), don't appear to be available from the engine_103.htm index page (which starts at 7.3).

It seems like the best way to "find" pages on the cd is just to browse the pdf files in explorer, and skip the html stuff. Sort of like thumbing through a book.

I had to try Anthony's suggestion on my W123 cd manual. WOW I can find all kinds of stuff. It's a little time consuming but worth it!! You just have to think like a German.

I called 1-800-ASK-MERCEDES, asked for tech department, and told them of my difficulty in finding certain items in the CD manual. They told me they were aware of the problem and in response, MBUSA has just released an update (v 1.1) to the W124 CD. I received it just last week. It seems a bit more complete in the html pages and has a way to bypass the Intro graphics, too. Version 1.1 CDs are black instead of the blue color of the Version 1.0 CDs. There was no charge.

I have a Mac, and rather than using VirtualPC/Windows, I have created a set of html pages that are a simple index to the W124/M103 PDF pages. I then have copied all the appropriate PDF files onto my hard drive and using my html pages and my browser, I can quickly get to the right manual pages that I'm interested in. Much faster than using the CD.

Tried all day to get a service manual in So.California. Only thing Available is $160 CD Rom from Penske MB. A lot of 280 books but 300E's are rare. Any suggestions were to get one?

Smile 300e manual

I bought a nice hard cover Haynes repair manual on ebay a couple months ago. Trollhattan, a Volvo dealer out east had a bunch of new ones they were selling. The going price was about $25. This particular manual is an English version but that's not a problem since we speak english too.

Got Manual :Thanks

Thanks to all,I picked up a 124 Manual @ a dealer in town. Has a lot good items in it but the torque spec's are English (Metric)instead of ft'pounds.
Is there a conversion chart available?

Multiply kpm (mkp) by 7.233 and you get ft/lbs (or a darn close equivilant).

MB 124 service Manual CD(s)

My shellexec.exe on my CD is contaminated with a virus...

God Knows how that happened, but I am now finally virus free, and need this program to utilize the manual.

Can, will someone send me this program from their CD root directory?

Many Thanks

Best Repair and Service Manual for W124?

I am looking in a good, illustrated do it yourself book or cd. I've heard the Bentley bible is not very complete, what about the Haynes one or the one's on ebay that claim to be the original factory repair guides?
Thanks!
