1982 300D Turbo Repair or parts car

First off I'd like to say what a great place this is. I was a "lurker" on this site when I drove my 300, and found SO MANY great posts/knowledge any time I had an issue. Hell, when I changed the starter the thread even told me how long of an extension I'd need, and how to "snake" around to get to it...

Anyway, I am selling my '82 300D turbo. I bought it several years ago in southern Michigan. I used it to commute from Columbus, OH to South Bend, IN for a while. I then moved to the South Bend area and the car was unneeded. Thus, it sat for about a year+. It sat outside for most of the time, but is now in my warehouse collecting dust and it is time to go.

First, it will not start. It will turn over, but will not fire. It ran GREAT when I parked it, so I feel as if someone with the right skills could get it to run again.
or it would make a good parts car.

When it ran...
~It ran strong and shifted smooth. Small amt. of white smoke on start up, nothing major.
~A/C compressor was replaced several years before I bought it (still have receipt) but the o-rings have gone bad.
~Developed a small vacuum leak just before I parked it. It wouldn't shut off if you forgot to lock the driver's side door while driving.
~Sunroof works great.
~3 of the four windows work (PS rear does not)
~I replaced the starter shortly before I parked it
~I replaced the front rotors shortly before I parked it.
~I replaced the hood crest when I bought it.
~I had the ball joints and tie rod ends replaced when I bought it.
~Driver's seat has a large split. PS and rear are OK.
~Received some very light hail damage while parked (hood, roof, trunk)
~Paint is faded on roof and hood.
~Some minor rust on the rockers and fender lips, solid otherwise.
~Still has the first aid kit.
~Block heater stopped working, but I bought a new one, never installed.
~The 8 hole wheels (pictured on the car) are off, and the original wheels are back on (pictured in a stack). I will throw in the 8 holes for $200 if they are wanted.
~Euro headlights (small crack in DS lens)
~Battery is low/dead
~Rear bumper fell off when I had it towed to the warehouse. Still have it, just need brackets welded up or replaced.
~Stereo was more money that I'm asking for the car, so I put the head unit in my wifes car.
~Dash is in great shape.
~Gauges all worked.
~Most of the wood is very nice, except around the window switches (cracked in the varnish)

217K on the clock. I have all the service records up to 180,000. Stll have all the books. I kept up on the service while I used it, but kept no records.

I have tried to list everything I can remember about this car. I will be happy to answer any questions I can, and will add more if I think of anything.

$600.00 as is/where is

Bob,

You have mail.

To help clarify for everyone:
The car is in Bremen, IN (20 miles south of South Bend)
The color is Brown w/ tan interior.

I also noticed this morning that my picture hosting site was down and the pics didn't display. If this continues I will host them elsewhere. I am happy to e-mail pictures to anyone in the interim.

Thanks

Carey

Carey -- I'm interested and have a brother who works in Peru, IN (at Grissom Air Museum). Can you describe or take better pics of the rust?

Tks,

Chris

Please note that I have edited the post, as the year was listed wrong. The car is a 1982 NOT an '84 as I originally posted. My insurance card read '84, but when I dug out the title it is an '82.

Chris,
I have someone who looked at it today, and is speaking with his MBZ mechanic this evening.. If he doesn't take it, I'll be happy to take some better pictures of the rust and post them this weekend.

Yes.
Here are some more detailed shots of the rust

You can see the rust on the feder lips. Also, the areas behind the rear wheels, and in front of the fronts, where the salt and sludge ice build up in our wonderful winters.

The battery box is solid. Also the base of the windshield, rear window is solid. I have been told that these were real rust prone trouble spots in these cars.

Listed the car on eBay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4558841836&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT

$1 No reserve auction. No BS, just need the space and don't need this car.
Thanks again for all of the e-mails and the past/future support
