1983 240d 221,000 Runs Well

I have for sale a 1983 240D. All service records available. New tires, brakes, brake hoses, clutch, starter, alternator, & regularly maintained. Manual sunroof has broken lever. Body is in good condition, very little rust, back bumper is off but in my possession.

I live in Lawrence KS. Make offer and/or I will consider a suitable trade. I am very busy and don't have the time to tinker with the car like it needs to be to be kept up the way it should. All things considered, it's a great car for someone who is knowledgeable about good old, solid Mercedes Diesels.

Thumbs down don't think its worth it

Nate-thanks for the pics, I think I'm going to pass on this car-the plate stuck on your passenger side rear bumper shock indicates you need a new bumper, the clearcoat appears in bad shape-for $1800, it's just too far away from me, and on the high side price wise-my 300D wasn't much more @ $2200, with everything pretty much working, decent paint, and only 152K on the clock. Maybe the other guys will take a chance on it, good luck.

Cleared the snowstorm in less than 2 hrs. Finished 600+mile trip Kansas -> Kentucky in about 11 hrs hammer down 75mph - Italian tune-up style with fuel additives. Stopped once to fill the tank. Also the spare battery you provided came in handy for quick swap when I realized electrics were lost when darkness fell, LOL, no headlights when clearing Indiana. Not to worry I suspect the regulator and/or starter wiring or alternator wiring is the problem. Nothing that caint be figured out. And none of the fiddly bits like bumper hanging, sunroof handle, door latch, etc bother me at all. With my rust bucket 'deer killer' 240D with bashed front hood for parts it will be fun putting the car you sold me into excellent Summertime condition Meanwhile keeping my '79 as the Winter rat.

Thanks Nate for a square deal!! Its good that you got out what you'd put in and am happy to now have a rust free 4-spd chassis with original black lacquer, excellent engine, mechanicals and solid drive train for about $1200 that included bus ticket and driving it home. I'd call this a win-win situation for sure and if you ever need anything at Louisville, Nate let me know. I appreciate you handing me the keys with 3/4 full tank to git me going and hope you enjoy the 100* proof V.O.B whiskey smuggled illegally through Greyhound bus stations. Now am sifting through the pile of service records, will probably keep me up all night. Apparently the original owner was an Oklahoma Architect and the car was direct imported from Germany.

Thanks again, Nate, this car is perfect for me!
