I notice that this car was converted from R12 to R134a.
Does the a/c blow ice cold? I've converted a car (a Nissan) from R12 to R134a before, and the results were so bad I had it converted back.

Bump!
I had a sale pending the last few weeks but there are cashflow issues right now for him so I wanted to make sure everyone knows it's still available. And in Hawaii it's a law that cars must be converted to r134a, and I can tell you that even in this climate, with black leather, I stay cool in there, I usually keep the fan set at "1" and I'm fine, never had an issue or complaint about the manual HVAC I have. Oh, and she'll never see cab duty here, there are lots of nice cars that do it here, I saw a new Bimmer 7ser the other day, and even an S55, but not my baby, besides, the rear seat kinda prevents it, that wood rolltop box that takes the place of the center seat, along with the contours of the Recaro rear seats prevent a third rear passenger. So yeah, BUY IT! |

Oh man...it just PAINS me to watch this thread. I subscribed to this thread months ago, and every time I see that someone new has posted, I'm wondering (hoping?) that someone bought it.
Hang in there... I've been trying to figure out a way to buy it, store it, and drive it in the summer only...I'm not quite there. Although, if it stays for sale much longer, I'll kill someone, take their cash, and buy it. Did I mention I love this car? ![]()

![]() While I wait for your video to load, I'll respond with this: my wife tells me all the time that I have an extremist personality, that is, I enjoy doing things at opposite ends of a given spectrum. For example, she made a resolution this new year to read one book a quarter calendar year - a fine goal. I decided to read two books per month - one fiction and one non fiction - just to see if I could keep it up all year. If all goes well, I'll move from that and onto knocking out my list of "supertexts," which includes everything from all Shakespeare's writings to the Koran. Such it is with cars as well. I needed a fun hobby and decided on working on cars. Since nobody I knew had a diesel, not to mention a 25 year old diesel, I decided on the 300D, just to see if I could do it (jury is still out). And so, now I'm looking for the opposite end of this car spectrum. Since I have a new love affair with everything Mercedes Benz, the 500e is my logical choice (is it not?). I'm a sick, sick dude.

![]() So...yeah....it's a LITTLE faster than my 300... What better car to learn how to drive at speeds above 120mph?

But yeah, someone, please buy her, I've had a few close buys in the last week alone, it's getting annoying to be so close to a sale then their finances fall apart, it's gotta be the 10th time it's happened now. |

I do have a pending sale, but as it's been before, that doesn't mean she's sold yet

Roughly $2100, as is almost all of the East Coast, that's for a closed container shipment

That's a lot of money. I have a friend who'd like one of these cars very much, he's driven mine a few times. But I think that shipping cost would put him off. Shame.

$2k for enclosed transport coast to coast is cheap. Last time I got a quote, I think it was over $3k. Only idiot buyers would back out due to a $2k transport charge. You have to figure transport into the price of the car. So the car ends up being $16k instead of $14k? Waaaaaaah! They can keep driving 300E's instead of the ultimate 124. Their loss, not yours. I've seen a number of 500E's and E500's in the $20-$25k range recently. Your price is definitely within reason. Maybe thanks to all the flakers, you'll be able to keep the car after all!

And remember, in the $14k asking price I'm including West Coast shipping, which is about $1000, so really I'm just asking $13,000, so with shipping you're looking at $15,000. The only other federalized euro 500E I've seen for sale is going for $34k right now, and it's boring black, not Brilliant Silver Metallic
