I need help in selling my 300SD

I have a pristene 83 300SD and I want to sell it but I don't know how to market it. I know the old MB diesels are in a narrow market. It is pristene inside and out. No cracks whatsoever on the interior and the outside has not even a door ding. It has never been driven in the rain. I am the second owner. How do I find the value of this car and where do I market it? Thanks in advance.

I have my present 1999 Mercedes-Benz E300 Turbodiesel for sale on another Mercedes-Benz related forum on the Internet.

Ebay may be the way to go for your car?

I also would suggest craigslist in your state's largest city.

I sold my last Mercedes-Benz turbodiesel parked in front of my home on weekend days only (I would garage it at night) for top dollar in two weekends. -Just what worked for me in the past.

Ebay has classifieds now, similar to Auto Trader. It will get good exposure and it doesn't have to be an auction. I think they are currently allowing free listings, pay only if you sell.

Here is what NADA has to say about an 83 SD. You might be able get more if it is pristine like you say.

if it is really in good condition those seem to bring the highest dollars

Not necessarily. There's some guy asking like $13K for a pristine SD that can't even get $4K out of an '82 300SD on Ebay, that has less than 100K miles on it.

That is a little inflated. We all know they trade hands for less than that.

I like the ebay listing no auction idea. there are crazy people (you know who you are) that will travel extreme distances to get no rust low mileage well maintained examples.

Just craigslist/ebay the thing (no cost) at what you would be comfortable taking for it and see what happens.

Two thoughts

1. There is nothing wrong with passing on some value
2. You can't make all the money in the stock market

reserve free auction on ebay... have a friend with another screen name outbid everyone. That way you can control what it sells for... sounds shady but I know that is what some people do.

Prices are all over the map. Craigs list has them for $1,000 up. $5000 is high but all depends on the car & buyer. There was one in Nashville listed for $3500 that was re-listed for less. The current owner said he had to move & didn't want to take it with him. Got pics?
