Forecast doesn't sound too good. Hopefully he'll wait it out if roads get too rough.

It will be good to have another classic in the area. I've offered him my collection of W123 parts & pieces if that will help him with his or their W126. Sharp looking car, should last some years before the rust starts showing.

WE'RE BACK!!!

Which is why I packed 50 lbs worth of tools in my checked baggage. I wanted to be prepared for any problem that would arise. I even brought in my torque wrench to make sure all repairs would be at the right tightness.

But you know what the problems were? NOTHING broke. Even the cruise control and the instrument cluster clock worked. 400 miles to a tank and 21 mpg were the averages on the trip. I only got pulled over once - in Davenport, Iowa - since I missed the sign where the speed limit dropped from 70 down to 65. That was also the nicest cop that has ever pulled me over. No ticket, just a written warning.

Anyway, I'm leaving from my apartment right now to drop it off at their house. The current plan is that after they get the paint fixed up on it, it's going to be their summer and "country club" car. And as soon as they get rid of their dodge convertible, there should be room in the garage - at least that is where I would put it. And since I'm the technical adviser for repairs, I will keep you guys up on it's progress.

Tyler always is very thorough and ACCURATE with his car descriptions. I'm not surprised you made it fine, even though he didn't have a long history with the car. But he recognized one that had been cared for.....

There was one failure... The day before I picked up Andy from the airport I took it on a little drive and used the cold air since it was in the 60s. It stuck there for some reason. I didn't notice until the next day (cold) when I was driving to pick him up from the airport. Thankfully heat would blow out the top with defrost but cold out of all the rest of the vents.

Oh, I was getting heat from the floor and from the defrosters... it was just the center vents that were not warm.

There was one problem this morning after I posted. I tried to start it up from overnight resting and it took me jumping it with my 240d to get it to start.

How cold was it? Perhaps that battery is getting weak?

It had to be jumped at the auction when sitting outside in the frigid cold for a few days.
