Interesting 123 Wagon...

Browsing local CL while eating lunch and stumbled across this: 1979 Mercedes Benz 300TD Wagon Resto Mod

What's up with the rocker panels - is it just missing the sheet metal?

Would look much better with a more reasonable set of wheels, IMHO.

I wonder where this buyer is...

Good luck with that buddy. It boggles my mind why an individual would sink that kinda cheddah into a project only to turn around and attempt to sell it. "Change of heart" or "lost interest," HA, my @$$! More like a failure to plan, Mr. Trump. Gave me flashbacks of that one thread highlighting truly extreme benz customs. WTF!

The attempt to eleminate the trim leaves it looking like it was half-@$$'d amateur night at the body shop. Rear-most windows, front and rear glass look pitifully naked with no ano-aluminum dressing. Body color painted rocker panels left incomplete? and MFW who frenches the roof rack off a wagon??? Shave it to half height er something, it accomplished your "sleekness" goal and I'll be okay with it. Deleting the trim on the rolling work of art that is the w123 is problematic at best. And prone to failure, case in point.

Mad credit for keeping it all Mercedes on the outside, though. Even the wheels are benz tuners. Atypical of customs this grandiose. Sadly, I predict this one has another stripping party in its future. You think he'd bite if I told him to keep the .Gov Motors v8 and trash-tier Japanese accoutrement in exchange for 5k? That poor car is desperately begging for a superturbo606. Hmmmm, I should look into transpo for this...

Bar tab's on me if he gets anything near asking. Would love to pick his brain.

I wonder if the rockers had to be cut out for the front suspension work. I bet that car screams down the road.
