Trade my '84 300D for your 240D in comparable condition (Portland, OR)
I'm not trying hard to get rid of this car, and I don't believe in unloading cars that are a handful on unsuspecting newbies, so here's an honest ad about a car I'm not enthusiastic about:
I'd like to trade my 300D for a 240D in comparable condition (which is bleh), but if for some reason you want to give me enough cash to buy one, I'd take it. I've got an '83 300D with 240k on the odometer, though it (the odometer) has started failing in the past week, and you know those readings aren't accurate. The car shifts great and has plenty of power with no turbo problems (the previous owner installed a boost gauge that goes to about 5lbs when accelerating, though I don't know what that tells you). The interior isn't nice. Ripped seats, cracked dash, the blue is wearing out on the rear bench, and it smells musty. The paint has some scratches, and the body has some dings. The stereo sounds horrible (though I'd gladly swap speakers if you've got a car to trade). All the windows and sunroof work, and I currently have it set up with just the two front doors on the vacuum locks (though I'd be glad to set up the rest if you're trading a car with four good vacuum pods, or we could just get some). Uhhh, there's no antenna. No AC (some hoses have been severed by the PO, but I have never run AC on any car, so I don't know anything about the rest of the components). There's a little blue smoke. It does well in the oil filler car blowby test. I put in four used coil springs because the PO had tried to cut them to make it into a street-racing low rider. The springs I got for the rear make it quite unique because it now rides high--that's right, HIGH!! The front are normal, so it looks like I'm trying to make it look like a hot rod (my drag-racing dad would be impressed). I also re-booted three of the four CV joints, and neither shaft had rotational movement (i.e. the joints aren't damaged). I just put in an 80 amp alternator. There's also a Kat's 2000 watt circulation heater. I don't know. I guess that's it. So, if you're interested, drop me a line. In order to make the trade work, I'd gladly swap just about anything from this car to your 240D. Tires and wheels, speakers, seats, axles, springs, hoods, whatever. Sorry, I'm not feeling well today. Otherwise, I could take and post more and better photos. |
