FS in Pa. 1987 300 sdl $1200

1987 SDL for sale
mileage is unknown but is in the high 200's as per a carfax
runs and drives but needs work!
car belongs to a friend who lost interest in fixing it after the oil pan was damaged by a "buddy" in a towing mishap (currently 'fixed' w/ some sealer that allows oil to actually remain in the engine; was never run w/ no oil).
starts on the first crank in cold weather after sitting for months.
needs motor mounts and the oil pan replaced (have good used oil pan included),
plus some interior work.
also included would be about 9 complete grey interiors (ok, maybe not 9 but enough to put this car back looking swell)
all in all way too good to part out although i'm not above it if it keeps sitting here with all the other cars that aren't selling.....
he wants $1200 for it
pm for pics, details, etc

Such a nice car for $1200, can't believe it isn't selling. Looks pretty nice. Ever had the fender chrome attachments off? Are those screwed into the sheet metal by the way (I'm assuming yes)?

Understand the oil pan, but what's going on with the interior(s)? Is the current interior bad?

i had an 89 560sel that the owner of the sdl decided to buy because the interior was nicer than the sdl interior. he dismantled the sel and put the interior parts in the sdl. i did the driver seat and have the passenger seat, rear seat door panels carpet plus a complete set of chrome wheels in the trunk......

Agreed I was surprised to see a bump again figured it would be swooped up by someone. That may be to blame for the level of expertise on this forum and our own inability to maintain our OCD to repair a vehicle like this once ownership is obtained.

My own head quickly visualized the situtation You could take the pan off by raising the engine then either MIG or buy a new pan $$$. BUT - you might as well pull the engine out so you could do the main seal too. Then since the motor is out might as well do the Vac Pump, Thermo, waterpump, chain guides And then its much easier to rebuild that rack, guide rods, etc.

What an illness we have with these machines
