1995 E300 w/ 413,000 miles - near Los Angeles

Time to thin the herd. I should have listed it here before throwing it up on the human cesspool that is Craigslist. I'd love to see her go to a good home with someone that will appreciate and take care of it.

Jim, I couldn't possibly agree more!

People express opinions as to the "best" car ever built... but THIS car has been nothing less than absolutely AMAZING. And I've owned a lot of cars that have oftentimes been declared as "the best" including w123's and plenty of others.

THIS car takes the cake. For everything. Durability, comfort, economy, driving characteristics... you name it. The only thing missing to make it the most PERFECT car ever made would be if the factory had put a turbo 606 in it. (As a few others have done over the years.)

I just went out to wash it, and she fired up on the first crank. After sitting for more than 6 months. Runs smooth as can be. I immediately began asking myself... "why the hell am I selling this"?

Running too Hot,

I am interested in your car, how far would you say it is good for driving it now? Does it need an oil change?

I have a white one same year etc., love it.

Lemme know...I would do a fly n ride

Hi Krusty - I got your message via Craigslist and will reply there too.

I just looked, and the oil has less than 2,000 miles on it, but it is definitely way overdue based on time.

As for driving it long distances, I'd have ZERO hesitation EXCEPT for:

1.) The clunk/looseness in the right front wheel. When the clunk developed, I assumed that it was the strut mount, so I replaced both. (I know, one should never make assumptions - but I figured it would be a good idea to replace them both anyways.) As I was installing them, I found the right front wheel has a significant amount of play. I didn't have the time and energy to tear into it to make a definitive diagnosis. It's pretty loose feeling, almost as if the bearing got loose. Could be the ball joint? IDK. (It has already had the tie rod ends, drag link, and idler arm bushing replaced in the recent past.) I've been driving my other cars, so I never got around to fixing it.

2.) As you can see in the pics, there is a fuel leak at the left rear corner. It's relatively small, and I've not crawled under there to see exactly what it is. (I'm getting fat & old, plus have a screwed-up back. It sucks because it inhibits me from working on my cars nowadays.) Seems most likely that it's a deteriorated hose, or it could be as simple as a hose clamp that needs to be snugged down. (USLD shrinkage?)

3.) Any other unknown issues that could be associated with a car that has been primarily sitting (with some sporadic exercise) for a long time.

I’d love to take it, I want a 95 e300. But it’s halfway across the country for me.
