For Sale: 1993 300D and 300SD in NJ
Putting a feeler out. I’ve been a long term MB diesel owner, and bought quite a few in 2022 (4 cars). I’m probably going to get a w201 in the short term, so need to make more space.
The cars for sale: ![]() ![]() The back story: Prior to 2022, I owned two w123 diesels, and a w126 diesel. My w126 is a 350SD “rod bender” that had a bad head gasket. I took it to a shop, it is still there today… The mechanic had two failed repairs! Meanwhile I wanted another “driver” mb diesel, because my w123 cars are low mileage and really nice. So I found an OM603 w140, which I figured could be an engine donor if nothing else. But I also always wanted a w124, so I bought one as well… After that, I found another w124 that I liked the interior color (blue) better (because my very first w123 was blue MB Tex, so a blue interior w124 was nice). And I found another almost identical w126 350sd…. So now I have too many cars that I can’t drive, insure, and keep garaged. So I need to sell these two…. The w140 1993 300SD - blue/peanut - 293k miles I’d drive this car across country tomorrow. No rust, great drivetrain. The good: - factory remanufactured engine and transmission - starts, runs, shifts beautifully - comfortable, quiet ride - clean and nice interior except for driver seat - no dash cracks - completely rust free - AC works great - working gauges/odometer - new tires and brakes - new glow plugs, intake gaskets, belt. The bad: - typical w140 clearcoat failure - driver seat is comfortable but bottom is torn - a few dents - signs of surface rust in fuel filler neck - one channel of amp not working ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Asking $4250 obo. The engine and transmission is so good, and obviously much lower mileage than the odometer shows. The w124 1993 300D - grey/grey - 338k miles I bought this car, drove it home from NC, drove it around some, but then found my white with blue interior 1991 literally a week or two later. I’m partial to blue interiors, and the white/blue one has lower mileage, so that’s the one I’m keeping… I haven’t done as much with this one, because while I drove the sd quite a bit over many months, I got the two w124 cars in rapid progression. The good: - perfect, rust free body - ok tires - engine starts easily in all conditions -no dash cracks The bad: - AC doesn’t work - Vac line to turbo is not connected. Not sure if a pressure actuated wastegate was retrofit. - front corner has a broken turn signal - interior wood has some clearcoat failure - cracking of the rubber surface on the steering wheel ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Asking $3500 obo. I only accept cash in person. I only sell to citizens with verifiable drivers licenses and insurance. If someone wanted to buy both (a 3.5L om603 w124 would be a neat combo), I might consider a package deal. Email is preferred. Post here if interested and will be emailing me.

I like that w124! Wish I could come pick it up...but too many cars here too.

Good luck with the sale, the w140 looks very nice too. I, of course, also have too many cars right now...and half aren't even Mercedes right now. *Shame*

The car starts and runs excellently, shifts perfectly. Anybody’s guess - I suppose MB of Manhattan (where I think the work was all done) has that history archived somewhere. Power seats work, front windows work, I’ll need to check the rears from both sets of switches. There is a small parasitic draw, I believe from fuse 6 in the rear fuse box. I pulled the fuse to avoid it. That does affect the use of at least the passenger rear window. Sunroof will open and close but it’s extremely slow. Needs to be cleaned and lubed. I just don’t use them enough to bother. I really bought the car for the engine and transmission, in case I needed a donor, but got to enjoy driving it. It drives nicely, I’d drive it to Chicago tomorrow. I did pull the cruise because it was keeping the throttle from returning to idle. I have a thread on here about it. Apparently that’s common. Cruise would engage before I pulled it. Also I had to pull the passenger side wiper arm because it was seized. I have it, it is in good condition, and everything could be refit. The mono wiper is huge and clears the windshield nicely, the passenger side one only covers a bit. My inbox was full, I removed some, so please feel free to email or PM.
