The car looks great. Too bad you have to sell it. Are you a member of www.500Ecstasy.com ? You might try posting it there, joining the community and maybe you can talk your wife into letting you keep it.

More pictures available.

Even though the pictures really don't do the car justice, I have posted all the pictures that I have on Yahoo pictures,

http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/taurinsa

Yahoo has reduced the resoultion so superfine detail cannot be seen.

Hatch and Sons is a very well-known restorer of vintage Mercedes cars.

They also sell the cleanest used Mercedes you will every find. And they are not cheap.

I've recently spoken to Hatch and they've stated that if my car doesn't sell before I move back East they will consign it for me and get more than my current asking price. Andy you may want to consider this as well if you don't have any luck selling it yourself. They want prestine original cars.

They stated the obvious which is some buyers feel more confident buying from a reputable dealer than a private seller and they will buy at a higher price.

They also stated that they recently sold a 17K 500E for $40,000, so this car is an absolute steal at $30K and anyone with the means and the patience can probably get more for it.

By the way KBB is a poor reference to value these cars, it's the same as valueing a low Mileage Porsche or Ferrari, they're not even close!

Rdandz,

As far as I know the airbags have not been replaced. The guy that owned the car prior to me had a '93 500SL that he traded in with 15K at the same time, he just did not drive much, I guess. He traded the the 500E and the SL on a new S600.

FWIW, I don't know exactly how long, but the "expiration date" on airbags has been extended by Mercedes Benz.

I'm sure they'd have the info if you contact them.

I heard the airbags life has been extended to 15 years by MB. Hope that is true too...coming up awfully fast.

All 85~9? MB's and Volvo's I saw when I was shopping my car had SRS airbag replacement sticker dated 10 years after manufacture.

I first thought those cars had accident.

I'm certain all 500E's / E500's were subject to the SRS life extension, they were all changed to 15 years from build date. Many of the cars received updated stickers from the dealership but the vast majority still have the 10 year stickers. If you check with MBUSA they should have this update on record somewhere I would hope!

The W124 airbags are good for 15 years, and probably functional well beyond that. The newer cars have no expiration on the bags, they are functional "for the life of the car".

BTW - you need to list this car in the DuPont Registry (for $35k+), if you don't pick the Hatch option. You'll get a totally different audience there i.e., one with money. Trust me.
