WTB: W126 500SE Euro-spec
If anyone knows of, or has one of these for sale, please let me know as I would like to find one that is in as original condition as possible. No SELs please, just the short wheelbase car and any color combo is fine. I have an original AMG suspension for one of these cars which I'm dying to put on one if I could ever find it!

500SE
Might sell a 86 420 SE; very rare euro with very very rare MB options such as trip computer and transmission with Sport Shift mode. color Gold; no SR; 91K miles; legally imported and federalized; good paint (gold) velour interior recently replaced; runs like a rocket but needs wires and injectors to cure small hesitation; small leak in muffler joint; chains done recently; no overheating or leaks; AC works; needs a bit of paint detailing since repaint was not rubed out good. Might only sell if I get $7,500 cash or I keep this rare beast.

I have a 1984 500se. It's petrol blue with grey leather interior and fully loaded (even with heated front seats). It's a great car and I'd never thought of selling it before (my wife drives it), but maybe...
Let me know if you're interested. Michael |

420 SE: AMG engined?
Further research on Euro 420 SE rare options computer and Sport Shift tranny: have found info on two other 126 cars with same rare options; both were special order AMG Stage I engine cars. This 420 SE feels way more powerful than 560's so it may be? Paint detailed nicely; wires and injectors cured small idle shake; compression check showed a strong sucker of an engine; tranny service showed no problems; muffler leak repaired. A delight to drive, brings lots of admiring glances.

I have a 1980 500sel Lorinser. It is a real lorinser with paperwork. Its obviously a euro. Has hydromatic suspension, custom lorinser silver paint on blue leather. I may sell it. It does have rust. I would be reasonable on price if you were interested.

How do you distinguish if the car is Euro or US spec?
Thanks

Are you still looking for a euro 500se?
If so..... I found one yesterday (surprisingly) right down the street from my house. It's a 1984 500se, Black/palomino. 187k. The good news: Body is in great shape. Power everything, adjustable rear seat, heated front seats, automatic climate control, leather, ABS, NO self-leveling suspension. It's still got both euro bumpers intact, along with the euro headlights. It starts right up and runs. There is no rust that I could find. Its also got those multi-spoke WIDE wheels that you always see on these older Euro Mercedes (not sure what they're called..). The engine looks good, it's surprisingly clean. The bad news: Front seats are quite worn, no radio, wood trim piece that goes around the climate control is broken, not sure what all works/doesnt work. The car smoked quite a bit when I cranked it up. The starter stays engaged too long too. The car made this really strange noise when it was running, sounded like it needed a new exhaust system (may have been non-existant!) But anyways, he was asking $1500, but it seems like he'd take as little as $500 for it. I'd buy it, but I just don't need it. Basically, it's a 500se with a good body, and most of the 'right' options. With a little work, it'd be a nice car. It's located about 40mi from Atlanta, GA If you'd like pictures, I'd be glad to go take some of it. PM me if you're interested..... |

Yeah, it does have a lot of potential. Like I said, I'd buy it myself, but I just bought a 300te, and between the 300te and my Audi Cq, I'd never get anything done with the 500se
![]() I dunno....it's tempting. I may go offer him $500 for it this week if it's still there ![]() |
