Thumbs up 530hp V8 in the 190E KAT1

Reto Meisel, last year Swiss champion with the 190E KAT1, wanted more hp in order to compete against the big boys in Europe which are driving Lancia's S4 and modified Porsches...

He installed a V8 engine 3.5 litre 32 valves at 11,000 rpm in the 190E KAT1. That Benz only weights 800 kg and his first race is very soon... I believe he installed a Cosworth V8 engine from a F3000 car!

BTW, the 190E KAT1 before had a 4 Inline making 380hp and went from 0 to 62mph in 3.5s it now does it in 3s...

Here are some pix but its in ppdf or something like that. The chassis itself is a modified 1993 DTM one which is clearly a prototype..... Based on the latest 1993 190E KAT1 DTM version which had nothing in comon with the EVO's.

ENJOY

PIX of the engine + chassis:

That's not your fathers 190E!

SuperSEC, better get cracking on yours! Intercooler, higher boost levels, Carillo rods.

I've already installed the air to air intercooler and I'm having a custom billet cog pulley system made for my Procharger P1SC so I can spin it to 60,000 rpm. The boost level should be around 15 psi but it may be more. I feel the power will be north of 500 hp but I should be at that by 5200 rpm. I'll dyno the engine and post the results. At 7 psi, my car was at 346 RWHP and 404 lb-ft of tq. Here is a good hp calculator:

http://www.superchargersonline.com/hp_calculator.asp?submit=1 Use 228 RWHP as a starting point and a three core intercooler. According to the calculator, I'll be somewhere near 430 RWHP or around 530 crank hp. I may have to run a fueling mod to feed the hp.

Super SEC, are you supercharging an M117 or an M119? I've been wanting an M119 supercharger kit but nobody wants to make one, and I've never seen anyone do a custom-fab job yet...
