190E 2.5-16V Transmission not shifting into reverse an hard into first.
Hello!!. I need some help. I have a transmission problem with my tranny grinding gears going into reverse and is very hard to shift into first. I thought I had the problem solved when I pulled out the slave cylinder out and found the push rod to be worn by about two millimeters. I changed the slave and it still grinds trying to go into reverse and it is hard getting into first.
Ihave bled the system 4 times because I thought I might have some air in the system so I used the pressure bleeder and it still grinds. I pulled the tranny out and checked the clutch and the only thing I could find that was a little worn was the throw out bearing, and the pilot bushing not needing to be punched in with a driver to seat it but it still fits in snug. I was wondering if the clutch master cylinder has a problem but everyone I've talked to with the same car says they never changed one. I know that the clutch must not be dissengaging all of the way but I dont know why. All of the other gears are fine but I know the ratio of the reverse and first are very high which will need full dissengagement in order to get into those gears. Thanks in advance Melvin A.
