Not this car. The AMG Hammer was a W124 sedan with a M117 32v motor. This car is fitted with a 6.0 M119 32v motor. Power figures are about the same but the original Hammer was an M117 motor. This would be referred to as an E60 AMG Coupe.

Talking

Yes the car is forsale. The guy wants 6,800,000 Yen (65,271.90USD / 33,846.59 GBP) The car is 1991 and has covered 73,000km. Seems like strong money. Then again if I had the money it would be in my garage.

I was under the impression that the name hammer was given to the 80'S AMG's (124, SEC and 201) by the american press. I might be wrong though.

Jake.. nice pictures. The "Hammer" was the nickname for just the w124 4-door sedan with the 32v M117 6.0L motor as EuroCoupe explained above.

I'm going to guess since the car above has the m119 engine, that its an early 90's model. Can anyone verify if the M119 motor was the last V8 engine to be modified by AMG when it was still a private company?

Prety close! The nickname "Hammer" was given by the press to a 1986 AMG show car that had a modified M117 6.0 litre motor with custom 32-valve heads stuffed in a 300E sedan.

Interest was so great that AMG followed-up with orders at outrageous prices, usurping the name "Hammer" to cash in on the show car's publicity. Orders were strong enough that AMG built a few on spec, then branched out into a coupe version and a lower line of 32-valve 5.6-litre sedans and coupes.

When AMG opened its USA facility, you could order a Hammer sedan or coupe with either 6.0 or 5.6 32-valve engine, plus choices for wheels and body mods...all coming under the name "Hammer"

I have one.

Bought the car out of Kansas. With a butcherd in,bastard119/5.0 and 4 spd transmission that was done in Chicago. Then, located what was found on arrivial to be the ORIGINAL engine and transmission which the car came with from AMG, in Seatle Washington. Thank you internet..Both my feet are covered in ****. All is cleaner and straighter then I had expected. I should have it together by mid May.
