I'm going to get rid of the stock headlights and get some decent lighting! Also since most of the plastic is cracked, or starting to on my 89 190E it will further motivate me. My question: since my oem headlight frames are cracked does the euro units completely replace the old frames? And..who has the best prices on the euro conversions? I've already got the clear blinkers. Thanks

Dave:
Your entire headlight/foglight unit comes out as one assembly. There are two hex screws on top (vertical orientation) and one on the bottom (center, horizontal orientation). Also, don't forget to remove the corner blinkers. The Euro units install as a complete assembly. The entire process took me about an hour (took my time and got side-tracked by cleaning stuff in the engine bay with the headlights removed). Just take your time and think things through -- it's a very simple project. Also, remember to NEVER touch the glass of the Halogen bulbs when installing. The oils from your skin on the glass will gratly reduce the life of the bulb. As for supplier(s), I got mine from Bekkers. Talk to Tony (1-800-624-5410 x16) he'll be able to help you out. I believe the units ran me about $490.00, but that INCLUDED the clear blinkers. So, you'll be looking at around $400.00 just for the lights. With all the bad press going around about eBay and "discounters", my personal opinion is stay with a reputable dealer -- the "added" cost is more than worth it for the customer service/satisfaction you'll receive. Finally, you might want to think about smoked taillights in the future ![]() Hope this helps and good luck. Brian |

hey there Dr. B,
Just in case you didn't know, on the 190 Revolution webpage in the "tech" section, there is a full description with pictures of the entire process. You can see what needs to be removed and the like. http://190Revolution.homepage.com Good luck, Clinton Davis '86 190E 2.3-16V |

Bri and Clinton....Thanks for the info on the Euro Headlights! Since both of headlight frames on my 190 are cracked the new headlight assemblies will also solve that problem as well! What about halogen bulbs? I know you can go with "more power Scotty" on the wattage but I've heard of guys actually going too far and melting (I'm melting......) the entire fixture! What's in there now...I think a 9004 or 9005 55/65?

Dave:
The Euro units come stock with H3 fogs (55W) and H4 mains (60/55W). I haven't upgraded my fogs yet, but I have installed mains @ 100/80W. No problems with "melting", but sure peels the paint on the car in front of me when I use the high beams (j/k) ![]() Brian |
