Those of you who are racers (or are thinking about it) the SCCA has finally put the 2.3 8 valve 190 into a more "fair" level of competition. They are now eligible to run in ITA.
In ITA there are alot of honda crxs, first generation RX-7s,RX-3s,etc. The 16 valve 190s were ok'd for ITS earlier this year. This means I'll be spending most of the upcoming winter "removing" alot of my "pro world challenge stuff"(plastic rear windows, etc) in order to put the car into ITS on the club racing level. I'm still looking for a better racing shock set up. A friend of mine uses the shocks from ground control, but he also spent about 2-grand for the set! There has to be a way we could get together to have some shocks built in a large enough quantity to get a break? Anyone had any luck with True-choice? ------------------ Alain http://www.expage.com/benzracer |

I know that BT from No. Fla had Truechoice build a set of Koni shocks for his car. I'm running a custom set of Bilsteins on mine. I now am running a complete 16V & finished 4th in the last SAAC event at RD Atl on labor day. Hope to see a few more MB on track soon.

Alain, Bill T from Fort Walton,I've been running a set of Konis built by Truechoice for three years now and by far the smartest money I've spent yet. They valve them to your specs[spring rate]and leave enough adjustmentto adjust rates. Not cheap but rebuildable, double adjustment and talk about dialing in your car. It took me one test day at Road Atl, and a double SARRC weekend to set up my car. I'm building a 2.6 now and hopefully A production car one day ,and they will have Truechoice Konis . See you on the grid Bill T

Thanks for the input guys.Bill, knowing that you are still satisfied after three years is exactly what I needed to hear. Looks like I'll be calling Truechoice this winter about some shocks.

16 valve Rear Suspension
Hello All:
I have a 1987 16 valve with H&R Sport Springs on all four corners and Bilstein Sport Shocks in front only. I now want to put Bilstein Sport shocks in the rear as well, but have two questions: 1. Do I need to get a stiffer spring if removing the SLS? I am currently using the H&R Sport Spring set designed for the 16 valve. 2. Does anyone know the part number for the Bilstein SPORT spring for the rear of the 16 valve? Thank you in advance, Peter |

I have some info on some racing shock setups from germany. They are coil over shocks. If you give me a few more days, I can get you info and pricing!

Maddog,
The AMG EVOIIs had some kind of an AMG coilover suspension. Is this by any chance similar? Later,

Ok.
I had the chance to personally check out an AMG EVO II up close while I was in Switzerland last year, and I think I have a pic of the suspension. I'll post it when I find it. Later,

EVO II Suspension
The DTM racing Evo II suspension is different from team to team.
most used coil over shocks F & R. some had adjustable hydralics as well as air bag type suspensions. Many of the later 91 92 cars had adjustable ride height. 2 of the last cars our team had were AMGs best with: FLY BY WIRE THROTTLE (disabled) Automatic Ride Height Adjustment Driver Adjustable Sway bars ABS Braking by BOSCH Variable Power Steering I have many close up pics. I will have to find them. The front sway bar was actually a 2" diameter tube on bearings with arms that went to the lower control arms. It did not look like the stock stuff at all. I wish I could fit that stuff on my road car! Definitely not the same as the street homologation car! Our team engineer said the car was more like a F1 car in a sedan. |
