Well I've got an M103 Brabus, the bottom ends are the same I believe and the top end work would be very similiar. I have period articles so I know what's been done. Forged internals have replaced the original Mercedes items (pistons, conrods and crank) accompanying a bore and stroke increase. The head has been gas flowed, as have the inlet and exhaust manifolds I believe. The camshaft and valves have been reprofiled along with the valve seats. The camshaft has been reprofiled too and the hydaulic tappets replaced with manually adjustable ones. The compression has been raised to 10.2:1. Result is power up from 188BHP to 245BHP and torque up to 220lb/ft. The M104 Brabus kicks out 272BHP I think. In one of the Merc forums there's a dude with an M104 3.6 190E!

Brabus didn't offer a 3.6L but they did offer a 3.0L turbo. I'm pretty sure they would have tested a 3.6L biturbo but the fact they didn't offer it suggests that it's mre trouble than is worth considering, only my 2 cents though.
As for the ECU it has been modified by Brabus by means of a piggy-back module which takes over at full throttle I believe. they ignition selector code (not sure if you have this in the US) has been changed to N for advanced timing, more power ![]() |

well mine is euro engine...but I noticed that brabus used the mechanical valve timing (not sure if this is what I mean my english is lean) but why is that so? Better fine-tuning etc?

I think Brabus used manually adjustable tappets (as opposed to the M103's self adjusting hydraulic ones) to tune the maximum power out of the engine. Perhaps it this was necessary to advance the timing code to 'N' seems to make sense. It gives the engine a lovely gruff straight six noise on acceleration
