Since all those modded out hondas have clear corner lenses do they cheapen the look on a mercedes? After all it is an aftermarket item. On a 124 they definately look better than the solid orange ones from the factory but im thinking the 94-95 clear/yellow ones look descent. Any opinions from you 124 owners?

Nope...I don't think clear corners look ricey...it makes the main headlight housing and the corner appear to be one piece from a distance...I also like the way the clears let the bodypaint be seen through them, so with my black pearl paint...it has a bit of a "tinting" effect...the amber strip on the '94+ cars are okay...but I prefer the clear corners...

I don't think they are ricey either. I'ld tell you if I thought so since I HATE ricers. And DuckMuck, is that an actual photo of your Mercedes? I didn't know they came in that green. Seems to be burning some oil from the smoke coming out of the back.

I don't think they look ricey either.

I think the clear is much better for the lines of the cars.

Plus you know the reflectors are better in the benz ones.

I see all sorts of clear corners on rice burners, and the reflector is always horrible.

And most of the ones I see have those blue tinted bulbs in them, which makes them look weird.

I put orange bulbs in mine, but painted half the bulb silver. it makes them looka bit dimmer, but when they flash they are bright, and it looks great when off.

Clear corners do not look cheap and after market at all. The european W124 E class (94-95) came standard with clear corners (Bosch and Hella), so I would say they look european rather than cheap and after market...

Personally I do not like the look of the complete orange corners and like the white/orange corners the US-models have (some european benzes are modified with US corners).

DuckMuck,
Your signature is getting better every time you upgrade it!!! I like the drawing!

Funny how in the US we put Euro clear corners and in Europe they opt for
the 94/95 US version with the yellow strip . [my preference,
as the car came that way. But I sure thought about the clears for some time before coming to that conclusion]

I think the aftermarket clears do look ricey. THE OEM units i've seen still have orange in them on the sides and orange bulbs. I HATE clear rear lights. I also HATE clear signals. If you going to use them, put in the orange bulbs.

The grill looks great, I was thinking of painting mine some other color than gray, like dark red or gold?? I have new chrome grill parts on the way..

yes the grille does look better in black. I prefer a matte or satin finish to glossy on the grille.

I will be repainting mine soon anyway, to use higher quality paint than I originally used.

As for the aftermarket clear corners, I still think they look 100% better than the orange, and the clear with orange is fine, but I just don't like the orange taking away from the beautiful lines of my car. When I finally do upgrade tot he euro's I'm putting on the bosch clear corners.

Personally, (don't flame me please!!!) I think that the clear corners look ricey on my color car. (smoke Silver). On black they look great, however not on lighter colors.

DTM FAN,

THAT IS N-N-N-NOT GREEN!!! It is black pearl!!! Does it look green??? plz tell me...if it looks green, then I have to use a darker shade so it will look like black pearl and capture the true essence of my lovely gundanium-alloy BMW E-Series powered by the Mercede-Benz M119.975 warp drive with dilithium crystal core. I also superglued duck feathers all over it!!! However, I suck at paint, so I'm having difficulty drawing duck feathers...oh well...we all have our weaknesses...

I heard from somewhere that clear corners came from Benz? No way and no how is this ricey. Face it, the asian car makers are always after German's car design.

MY opinion? But of course...

The all-white look is pure cheeeeese unless it's modern OEM or - better scenario for late80-early90s models - euro headlights. Those euro units are GREAT looking in all-clear.

The add-on corners to the US-spec flush lights think 1990-1993 are U-G-L-Y and they ain't go no alibi, baby. Yo mama thinks they'z ugly! Too many lines/pieces/parts/gaps/etc.

Someone here said it right - "they look good from a distance". Yeah, from about 300 yards...

I saw clear corners on a black SL in Germany last week. (I was admiring the lights from the hotel lobby, when the owner got in. One very hot looking older blond woman.) It seemed to be OEM, I'm pretty sure they are all that way in Euroland. (It's hard to remember with all those beautiful auto’s everywhere.)

I think they would look great on my white SL (with yellow bulbs). Where are they sold?

Thks
tony

Clear corners aren't ricey at all, as long as they flash the proper color (orange). The ones I have on my 300D are pretty nice. They use a clear bulb, but inside the corner light is a small orange lens, so it flashes orange. Unfortunately I couldn't find Bosch or Hellas, and the only ones I did find were a cheap knockoff but they fit well and I've had no problems.
