Hello
I am looking for ideas on lowering my car and what i need to do is to not have to sacrifice the ride quality of the car.
Everyones input is appreciated.
I have also heard that changing the air bag(for the lack of a better word)on the springs can work too!

Thanks for the input.

Try lower spring pads. Do one notch at a time.

If your going to go through all the trouble of replacing your spring pads (believe me, it is a fair amount of trouble) you might as well just go ahead and replace the OE springs with Eibachs or H&Rs ($250-300 for the set, also note spring pads are about $20 for 4). I couldnt justify going through all that work replacing just the pads, for a minimal change in ride height (.5-1cm). for all you know your car may already have the shortest pads on as it is. I believe they come in 3 heights in something to the tune of 5mm increments. I lowered my car with the eibach pro kit and also did the swaybars. I also replaced the shocks with bilstein sports. with this set up and 17 inch rims the effect on ride quality was noticeable but tolerable, especially in light of the handling gains. if your still that concerned with the ride, then stay with the OE shocks and dont go more than +1" on your wheels.

AV,

I got to drive John's 87 300E with the sportline full conversion on the suspension, and the car felt incredible. It was very smooth, body roll was at a minimum, and the car was very responsive, and as john says, begs to be tossed into the turns.

The ride was smooth, and the roads felt like nothing.

I think you would be pleased witht he sportline suspension if you were to do it.

you may want to just switch to the thinnest spring pads on your car to lower it a little bit. Otherwise, go with the sportline springs and the thinnest spring pads and you should get the car lower without compriomising the ride quality.

If you go with other springs, H&R, Eibach, Etc, they might be too stiff for your tastes, but I myself am putting Neuspeed (Rebranded H&R's) on my car sooner or later. They are waiting to be put on. I myself would sacrifice ride quality for a good deal lower on my car, but I have no idea what the effect will be.

Alon
