You know, I once had a 1963 Olds f85 with a 215 CID aluminum v8, that was quite a small but powerful engine - I loved that car. I looked up some links for your application and found that the engine only weighs 318 lbs, was small enough to fit in Rovers (and a Triumph Spitfire), is quite a popular hot rodengine swap in the UK, and could be modified to 260CID (4 Liters) by installing the iron crank from a Buick 1964 300CID engine. The Olds version of the engine even had a factory Turbocharger and developed 215hp from 215 CID. One of the links shows the weights of various engines, and this is the lightest v8, (so maybe one of the smallest?) Here are the links, and good luck!
