420sel w126 Looking for Performance upgrades???
I have a 1990 420sel (126) and I am looking for period AMG parts or aftermarket performance products for this model. I am a technician for Phoenix Motor Co. (Mercedes Benz) and as far as our parts department goes, we can only get stuff for our late model cars obviously. No one in parts knows who to contact for performance parts for the 126. Anyway, any sites or info would be appreciated. Thanks

They still have some period correct AMG parts I believe. But be warned, they are VERY, very expensive, they are mostly new AMG parts, the real deal, but they will really cost you. ![]() Aside from AMG, there is not really to much available in high performance kit, as the W126 was never really made with this in mind when it was built. High speed long distance cruising was more its forte. Especially true of your 420 Tuners have in the past put custom mandrel bent headers, free flow cats, Eisenman/Timevalve/Remus exhausts, Different rear ends (2.82, 3.06), larger wheels/tires, first gear start modules, Bilstein HD shocks and so on, but these things can be found individually. Engine modifications, and removal of cats, could affect emissions law in your state. A few people have tried Mosselman superchargers, or NOS setups, and this site www.mbcoupes.com is W126 performance oriented, and its owner successfully planted an M119 engine in a W126, and later, a V12 in it. So, it can be done A set of good Euro headlights on U.S. spec cars is always a performance upgrade in the lighting area. "For off road use only" ![]()

I have AMG spec cams available, should have my duplicate AMG headers done in the next few weeks. We are also going to offer a package of a Very hot cam with mechanical lifters in the future.
I do not believe these will work on a 420 however..M116 blocks have some important differences over M117's. If you want to make your 420 fast I would first sell it and buy a 560. Hopefully in the next year or so I'll have my TT kit available...and should be making upwards of 500hp. Jonathan
