www.rondavisradiators.com

I googled "custom radiator" and got about 21,000 hits. Ron Davis is excellent, but there are others. What will it be going into?

Yes

I also Googled right after I posted and said to myself, why dident I think of that first. It will be going into an M120 powered 560SL. You remember the one that were going to meet at some drag strip somewhere in the middle of the states and have a race. Engine mounting should be complete in about 2 week, How is FrankenBenz coming.

FrankenBenz is coming together VERY slowly, but it's coming together. I should have the last piece for the rack & pinion steering tomorrow and have the steering wheel attached to the front wheels for the first time in a year by this weekend. The steering arms have been modified and the rack is bolted to it's mounting plate.

FYI, the dual electric fan setup I did to the 560SEL late last summer is working great on it this summer. I now have to buy another set of fans for the FrankenBenz since these ain't going nowhere! Much, much better than the engine driven fan! You might consider it for your Beast.

Good to hear your moving along. I will probably be doing alot of experimenting with fans. What I dont like about electreic fans is that they tend to be noisy at a stop light especially with the top down. If I use one it will definately be on demand. My plan right now is to use the stock M120 setup which is biased over to the right augmented by 2 or 3 small fans in the available area to the left. Plus the original 560SL front fan or maybe a better performing replacment for that. I will activate the electric fans off the original 560SL logic so I dont hear them unless I need them. What I am really hoping to find is a good enough radiator so electric fan augmentation is minimal.

I am also concerned about underhood temperatures so I may be installing underhood air scaveging fans as well.

My goal is to make the car perform as elegantly and gracefully as a stock SL600 rather than an all out hot rod. It will not be the fastest car on the road but the power will be "sufficient".

John,
I'm using the Delta Current Control 33212 integral dual fan and they are quiet. I can't hear them in the car and outside they are not intrusive, which is surprising considering the amount of air they're moving. I had to have an heavy duty alternator rebuilt to handle the currrent (max of 28 amps for the fans) but that seems fine now. There are other companies that make this type of fan - Flex-a-lite comes to mind but this one moves 3400 CFM and that is what I wanted.

I could make a short video of the fans while sitting in some Vegas heat to give you an idea of the sound level, if you'd like.

I just got my 26X19X3 tig welded aluminum single pass made by PRC for $223 shipped.
I had them make it without a filler neck so it will mount under the core support.
Also has a 1/2 npt bung welded at the top of the right tank for a nipple to thread into. Then hook up the expansion tank filler hose.
I found them on ebay.....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Aluminum-Double-Pass-Racing-Radiator-NEW-SB-Chevy_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ107063QQihZ001QQitemZ110145037865QQtcZphoto

The link shows a double pass, but you can get pretty much anything you want made from them.
