Lightbulb Lime Rock PDA Event & possible MBZ event??

Well, there was a solid MBZ showing at Lime Rock this past Sat. for the event put on by Performance Drivers' Association of NJ. There were 2 2.3-16s, a stripped-down early 190E 2.3, my 500E, Alan Tackman's RennTech E600, and a brand new C32 driven by a National Mercedes guy and the Editor-in-Chief of Mercedes Momentum magazine. Nice to see a bunch of Benzes dicing it up!

Boy, these PDA guys give you a LOT of track time! Great event, great time. I listened to Hendy's advice about running 10 extra lbs. of air in my front tires, and it worked magic! Car handled great all day. And my brakes even lasted...no fade! This time out I ran cryo-treated OE front rotors with EBC Red Stuff pads, and they got the job done wonderfully. However, my big surprise came when I replaced the pads yesterday-only about half a mm. of material left!! So, in the 40 mi. trip to/from the track, and 90 mi. of on-track driving, I completely killed that set of pads. Word to the wise-check your pads before you leave the track and make sure there's enough material to get you home! And the rotors are un-warped, so I'm a new believer in this cryo-treating process.

And watch out for Tackman (ACTACK)-the boy can drive! Great seeing him beat up on the Porsches out there-both him and his car are VERY fast, and a lot of people I'm sure were quite surprised.

So, the Mercedes guy wants to know that if they put on a track event that cost about $350 for a day, would you attend? What they'd offer is a day at, say, Lime Rock (he specifically asked about an event in NY, NJ or CT) which would include driving instruction, a chance to lap with your own car, and track time in ALL the AMG models? Please respond if you'd SERIOUSLY plunk down the money and attend-I plan to get back to him in a week or so.

Thanks in advance

LRP Results

Thanks Michael for the kind words. Stealth is what the E500 is all about!
Other than a half dozen laps at Pocono, this is the only time the car has been on the track- and we both need some work and track time together- faster yet is coming.

It was great to see so many benzs at one event- and to meet another list member! Thanks for the observations (like the low self leveling fluid) in your quick look over of the car. I sure wish I had your E500 specific knowledge. Watching the various threads on the list has helped already.

If any one on the list has time to get together at an even like like the PDA event, I heartily recommend it. You never know what you might learn or who you may meet.

Regarding the possible future MB event, count me in. I know it is very hard to get an open date at Limerock, since the Skip Barber schools use a lot of track time. I suggested to them possibly Pocono or Watkins Glen. I also told them that PDA would help them organize and run it, if they wanted the help. If we can get 100 cars, the cost should be a lot less than 350/ day.

I'll attend an event with you, Alan, as long as you're not in my run group

C'mon, folks, we need some committments here! So far, with Hendy and ZRUSNY included we're at 4 (thanks Gary & David; and Hendy, I don't want YOU in my run group either), so only 96 to go.

Any more takers? If you're within 500 miles of CT/NY, you HAVE to attend! Just think, YOU GET TO BEAT ON AMG CARS THAT AREN'T YOURS!

Ahem, excuse the emphasis. We can make this happen guys, I know we can-so please respond.

Talking Count me in also...but

I'm sure more could be enticed to attend if the event could be held a little further south like Summit Point or VIR. To travel all the way (and towing too) from NC to LIme Rock for just one day is a little far, roughly 14 hours, each way! I know of more from the Peachstate (GA) and NC/SC that would attend.
Just my two cents....

whoo hoo!! (ala Homer)

What better combo of letters can one think of than AMG @ LRP. Assuming you'd be speaking to an event NEXT season (as this one's basically booked), I'm there.

And I DO want to be in your / Hendy / Jim's run group, heh heh heh... by then my Kumhos should be on and ready to skim my times there to Hendy-esque territory!

Good luck on carrying the flag, let us know your progress.

p.s. Mike, we gonna see that red beast @ this Sunday's auto-x or WHAT??? Scared us little 4-bangers will give you too much of a run? heh heh... seriously, hope you can join us.

What time would the autocross begin, and by what time could I reasonably expect to get 2-3 runs in? Weekend time's tough with the 3 kiddies, and having just done the LRP thing it might be tough to break away, but I'll try
