Joreto, I'm talking to a company called TDswaps out in Oregon about a bellhousing they're working on for the R15x toyota transmissions (Also would work for the jeep gearbox which you probably cant find, an the Opel speedster MA-5 RWD trans you might have). I think this is the solution I'm going to go with since they're behind a ton of high hp cars and with the right parts (commonly available) they're quite strong.

I'm going to use a ZF BMW box since they can be found cheap and are proven to handle a lot of power.
Here is a picture of the getrag box, 1-4-th gear look almost identical

P.S. This weekend I upgraded to a t66 twinscroll turbo, also made a few modifications to the exhaust header which will lower the backpressure by a lot, however due to the problem with the gearbox I never got a chance to test the new setup

Hi, Joreto, nice project.
can you tell what kind of EGT you have on 0,7 boost at 5000 - 6000 rpm? I 'm turbocharging my w201 with 3l. m103 and how i have EGT in range 840 - 865 celcius. I am confused, dont know, is this EGT range normal or critical.

Since the car is in the garage for a new gearbox, I've decided to make a few changes and fix a few problems on the setup. I have swapped the turbo for a T66, which required a modification to the exhaust manifold since this turbo is bigger and hit the valve cover. The manifold was reworked to become more or less a twinscroll, also a few sharp edges in the exhaust manifold that contributed to a lot of backpressure were smoothed out . Last but not lease the downpipe has been change and redesigned for better flow, it's also a bit larger 88.9mm, old one was 76mm.

That's it for now, hope the next update will be of the gearbox modification

Started work on fitting the new gearbox, it from a diesel BMW (330d/530d/525d) .

Then we mated the gear box to an old engine block I had with everything fitted ( flywheel, disks, throwout bearing, clutch pump ect.) .

Here is the difference in thickness of the flex discs and flex disc bolts, bottom one is the BMW flex disc

This weekend I mounted the gearbox, drive shaft and the new turbo on the car, only thing left is to mount the exhaust system (currently only the down pipe is mounted). I did a little driving test with the new box and everything seems fine. I'm very pleased with the gear changes, they feel a lot better then the getrag, guess it's due to the shift mechanism. Hopefully this coming weekend the car will be on the road so I can participate in the upcoming open drag day.

Two pictures of the new turbo setup, turbo is a twin scroll t66 .

Looks neat.

Is there room to drop the air intake lower and perhaps pick up some cooler air?

To be honest, I haven't measured how much space there is but I don't think it's a lot since the alternator is in the way. This weekend I'll check.

Thanks, gearbox feels really good, the new turbo....well I can't say for now since I've driven the car only a little because there is an oil leak from one of the lines for the oil cooling (at the oil filter housing). I've ordered a replacement seal, but due to work I'll be able to change it next weekend. Hopefully I'll have the car ready for the open drag day on 13-14 July (it's time I hit official 12-s :-D ).
