Hi everyone.
I own MB 190 which was originally 2.6l engine. I've installed 3.2 engine
from w140 320 model.

Other than fully ported head, engine is stock, but fully rebuilt.
Now I'm about to install individual throttle bodies, but I've ran to some problems. Oil filter housing is in the way of where intake manifold should come.

Ihave removed this part from the engine block, however there is some kind of valve inside it and what it looks like thermostat.
Do you know what is exactly purpose of this valve and thermostat, if that is what it is??
I would like to completely remove oil filter to some remote location.
Any ideas on how to do this?

This is what I'm talking about:

i would presume it is either a 1 way valve so all the oil doesnt drain out, or as it has the oil to water cooler like you say it would be a thermostat so its not used until the oil is hot enough,
i have a filter housing without the water/oil cooler attached that is smaller, that sort of thing you might be able to use.
would you like picture of that to see if it could possibly work to give you the additional room, or are u just after a definate answer to what the valve is for?

Picture would be of great help. If that kind of housing is shorter, it might be solution to my problem.
