i just want to see some increase in power, i know a pulley kit would work but thats my last resort.

I think the pulley kit is the ONLY option you have to get more power for less bucks. It will increase acceleration....

I heard Renntech lowered the prices on the pully kits. Might want to check it out.

...suggest acquiring a "faster car" (ie SLK32) that benefits from "total engineering" to be a faster car...
that way you'll get a complete package of "faster": braking, handling, speed, etc. - - as well good luck -fad PS- I see lots of people trying to make their car faster...and each day also see not too many able to handle just everyday normal driving challenges.....for those whom like speed-, suggest taking a track skills/driving course and spending time with your vehicle on the track (its fun, inexpensive, and alot safer for you and your car) Last edited by -fad; 12-31-2001 at 09:16 PM. |

my suggestion would be leave it alone because if you are not mechanically inclined you are just looking for problems.

Mostly these cars are pretty well sorted from the factory.... You can sharpen the handling far easier than you can significantly improve the acceleration. First step is learning how to drive what you have to its best ability....
Since the acceleration of most of these cars is so complex and usually well engineered (400E's 2.24 rear axle ratio nonwistanding) it makes the best financial sense to upgrade to the next quickest car in the lineup. Save mods for once you are at the top of the lineup.... In your situation, I'd look into swapping up into the 3.2 now....which leaves a supercharger kit (say Kleeman) to be potentially done later. Of course, you could put the cash for the kit towards a SLK32 AMG but on the cycle goes.... Hope this helps, Lee PS you can look into the pulley kit, but weigh cost/gain and compare that to just trading into something that will have more resale later as well. For example....look at resale values in E430 vs E55, 400E vs 500E, C280 vs C36/43. If it costs you 10K to swap or modify you are better off to swap as factory always has better resale than modified. |

Hey do they make the pulleys for an 87' 300E? Also, heh what do they do
![]() Thanks, sorry for the dumb question |

The pulley kit basically has the effect of spining the supercharger slightly faster. Will not do a thing for non supercharged cars.
