55 SC engine in a C43

Anybody know if fitting a 55 SC engine in a C43 is possible or not (apart getting the electronics talking on the same wavelength)? 55 NA is relatively a simple swap, but the SC engine could be a challenge. Any comments?

The best thing to do in this case is to have the entire donor car with the SC engine running first. Trying to do this with an engine only would end up very costly as there are many parts the engine will not come with that necessary to make it work.

Physically dropping it in is the same. The ecu may work but you have to have the same CAN id language so depending on year this could change. The other option is to tune the stock ecu with an air mass sensor on the 55k engine. This has been done on other cars. Make sure to have fun along the way. Lots of trials and tribulations going down this kind of road. I have a client that just blew a very expensive M3 engine that overboosted to 50psi.

Off topic but yes. He runs very high boost anyways. 12.3:1 compression at near 30 of boost on pure methanol. The overboost protections were not capable of pulling the boost out of the motor. Not sure why. Even hit ignition cut from overboost.

Hey whipplem104

I have been wondering how much the CAN id's change. Especially the ones that matter to talk to the trans ECU. Like RPM, TP, Power, DAS status. Any experience with that. I would love to see your PCS controller read RPM over the CAN.

I think that there have only been one or two changes in the engine CAN. The big change I can not remember what year it was. I think that it was when the ME 2.8 modules came out. I would love to have my tcu read info on the CAN also. This is probably going to happen with the Chrysler cars which I understand is the same as the later Mercedes. We will see.
