Hello all I am Jason from Hungary (Budapest)
I have currently 2 Mercedes: a 1991 c124 230ce (m102) 5 speed manual a 1984 w201 2.0 190 4 speed manual Both cars are in the process of slowly getting restored and different engines as the 190e will be getting a m103 and hopefully boost and a better trans to suit it. This would be the simpler of swaps as everything came in the 190e 2.6 so this would not be my problem. My questions arrise for the c124. After alot of searching and searching I have not found a proper answer or things getting off topic. I would like to place a M104 in place of the m102 as the m102 2.3 is very very laggy in the big c124. My choice for the swap would be a 3.2 or a c36 3.6 motor. My car is currently a manual and I do know I would need the a couple of parts and do know from my understanding that non of the m104 engines were drive-by-wire. m104 hfm 3.2 or 3.6 better trans? engine wiring loom all motor accessories my car is not a auto trans car so i could maybe source a manual trans 3.2 motor from a manual w124 and make this swap easier as when i read the forums benzworld, mbworld etc etc i see people are wanting to swap auto for auto and need the extra ecu for the trans as the motor ecu talk to the trans ecu. Would this swap be a little simpler for a manual trans merc? What else would I also need to acquire? I know the swapping the motor part is the easiest part and wiring being the more difficult part and want to stay away from aftermarket ecus and do not want the cis m104. I have also thought of getting an early m111 2.3 kompressor motor as I do believe they are not drive by wire but I am not sure and again very little info. I will be doing this conversion myself so as much info and know how from the more experience with this converion would help. Future plans after this swap would be a 6 speed (if the c36 motor is done and not the 3.2) If I do the 3.2 then I wil be duplicating what brabus did later in the future. Thanks for you inputs. |
