4.7 update
I picked the car up from Vaeth in Frankfurt and drove it back to Calais in 4 hours (average speed 110 mph) I red lined the car in 5th which with the new gearing is about 170 mph - Amazing how stable these cars are even at these speeds, it felt more stable than my 993tt which always feels a bit twitchy.
Ive put 2000 miles on the new motor and put fresh synthetic oil in it. Using a G-Tech 0-60 takes 6.0 seconds (car weighs about 4010 lbs). I put the car on a Bosch dyno, getting a curve was quite difficult as it wouldn't hold just one gear, but we found the maximum output. 269 bhp at 5950 rpm at the wheels. This dyno works out correction factors and gave 313bhp at the crank. I don't think this is accuarate as I'm sure the auto box and drive train sap more power than this. Looking at the before dyno curve of Benzmac's CLK55 - it managed a peak of 284bhp before tuning, and there is a dyno plot on Oberklasse's site of an E55 which gave 283 bhp before tuning. If you extrapolate the figures of 283/4 bhp being the equivalent of 354 bhp for an AMG55, then my 4.7 would have about 336 bhp. What does anyone think, does my logic make sense ![]()
