Question For Mb Doc

Hello MB DOC. In your answer in the thread regarding the 190E 2.3 16V, you pointed out the differences between the Euro and US versions of this car. Would you be kind enough to point out the differences between the Euro and US versions of the early 9eg. '87) 300E's? I have been trying for quite a while to research this. My mechanic gave me some vague answers and I really can't find definitive info on the net. From what I understand, the compression ratios are the same. Could it be that the Euro version has a non-retarded spark (eg analogous to the removal of the R16 resistor in the US version)? Are there any other definitive differences? The HP in the Euro version is mentioned in 2 Euro sites (one is the Mossleman Turbo site) as 188 HP. Is this DIN HP? You opinion would be most informative not only for me but for other 124 owners. Thanks.
