Our 1993 500E needs to get it's hood and bumpers re-sprayed.
I was thinking of doing the following: 1) keep it stock; 2) upgrade to 1994 E500 hood; 3) install S-class hood-vents; 4) install E-class hood-vents; 5) install SL-class hood-vents; 6) invert/hide washer nozzles a la RUN.EXE Comments? Suggestions? Order of pictures: S-Class; E-Class; SL-class hood vents; hidden nozzles. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Since you installed the late style headlights, I think the '94 hood would look best. On a sedan, I think the full width hood-vent looks better but I can't see much of a difference between the new E and S class vents. With any vent you may as well keep the nozzles on top. With no vent, hidden nozzles are kind of cool.
![]() How do you plan to deal with water drainage with a hood vent? Or will it be far enough back to drain via the windsheild drains? Whatever you decide, I can't wait to see the results ![]() |

I'd go for #2 and probably #4. Just make sure you take off the old hood pad carefully (if it isn't disintegrating yet), otherwise you'd have to impute the cost of getting a new one.
Good luck!

Hi Neil-
>the SL hood vents look the most aggresive- - either case, I'd use the vents that offer the most 'breathing' benefits >I'd keep the current hood set-up so your E-codes are matched accordingly regards -fad |

Just make sure they do it right
Try to find a shop that does restoration work on MB's as your paint source. I had my 400e Conversion sprayed by a reputable enough shop, but the paint is a pitted after less than a year because of the limited number of coats that aftermarket(even MB owned body shops) painters apply. If Glasurit says apply 4 base coats and 2 clear coats, that's what they do. On the other hand a shop that does show cars or restorative type work on MB/ other fine european cars will no doubt double that. I'm just saying you're doing restoration work, so take it a restoration specialist
