I assumed the pin out position/operation on the OVP with different numbering languages would be the same since the socket was the same but it's not. I need to restart my cooked original but I'm still fairly certain it's cooked. Really excited to get my hands on that thing In a couple days.

I've done a gazillion 104 head gaskets. The first time might be a bit daunting but they're not that bad once you've done it.

Did you need to resurface? Does the head need to come apart at all?

They dont get surfaced as a matter of course but each one gets checked for flatness. About as many that get surfaced for warpage will get surfaced for corrosion in a critical area. Assuming neither of those cases you can pop the head complete, clean the surfaces and throw a gasket right back at it.

Am I going to have any issues with vin coding on the e320 ECU swap? It's the same year and everything.

And as far as resurface do they have any low hanging fruit that will need major disassembly? How much can I remove while I'm at it?

I pull the head with the exhaust manifold still attached so that comes off. The cams and lifters come out too. Lastly there is a coolant pipe adaptor at the back that has to come off.

There is a spec for how much you can cut. On my 104.980 motor I went well past it.

Nice thanks.

How about that ECU? Is it going to cry about not being in the original car if I put the e320 ECU in the c280?

The new OVP RELAY is a success, as far as the dash doing the funky chicken and the fuel pump running with key off we are good.🥹 Race car!! The alt is not charging still and has power to the field wire. That makes sense though. The alternator went berserk and killed the OVP in its death throws. I'm sure I have one around, although I don't know if I have a 90amp, hopefully a 120 I think I have will fit. It doesn't look like a lot of fun getting this thing out though.

Looks like a free w124 1994 e320 donor for pulling and returning the trans and scrapping the rest is going to happen. Spare control arms in the rear will be a nice bonus to the questionable motor and ECU. The car was bought in a 2 car parts car package and was already partially stripped. My biggest concern/question the current owner can't really answer either is, since it doesn't look like a hugely rusted mess, it's not wrecked and the guy before this owner said the trans is good, what parked this thing ? I think it still has coolant in it soooo?.... He said the cluster had 70xxx or something on it. Does the odometer always crap out like w126 ?

I've never tried to do a 202 to 124 HFM swap so I don't know what issues might arise. It very well could be plug and play. You can swap the ecu and see if it wants to play nicely. The engine sizes are close enough that it'll start and run. If the throttle isn't wonky its a win. If it is wonky you can have the 2.8 HFM mapped for the 3.2. I know a guy

The e320 donor has ASR. That's going to throw a wrench in things isnt it?

A possibility but unlikely. It's already going to hurt feelings. I don't want it to be illegal while doing it. It will probably run fine on the 2.8 ECU in reality too. I'm really hoping I don't need to swap the motor but the stripper hot tub water isnt a very confidence inspiring find. The pic doesn't do it justice. It's got all the vitamins and minerals. Copper, zinc , aluminum. The fact that it was basically full is a good thing though, maybe it worked

How about the ASR? If the ECU is ASR equiped and sees no sensors is it going to work at all?
