5spd, 190E 2.3L TURBO
So im getting this really good deal on a 190E, brand new engine, has only 15,000 miles on it. I was thinking that if i decided to get it, could I turbo it and would the tranny be able to handle the boosts. It's an 84', so it's old, but it's like new. Also, whats the horsepower rating on that car, i know it's not much, but nothing a turbo can't fix ; ).

Hey Chris
84-86 113hp 87-93 121hp 3.23 rear end, use a 5spd tranny from 86 or 88 300E, stock tranny can't handle a turbo, or use a 16v tranny 86-87 or 85+ euro 16v transmission

If you turbocharge it and run about 4 psi boost and get the car to about 150 hp the trans will survive. Use a mid-top end turbo so there is not so much low end torque.

I would not go with an 84. They are very underpowered and the engines are not as strong as the 85 and ups. It is worth it to wait for an 85 or up 190.
