Well, I just took my car off of the dyno after 5 hours and here is what I ended up with.

The engine will handle 16lbs of boost with 22* timing max. This is at a 12:1 fuel mixture.

I think that an engine running any boost should be running a 12:1 and high boost should be 11.5:1. I have water injection so, I feel OK with the 12:1 under high boost. Otherwise, I would richen it up.

I tune for reliability, not max power.

I have a stock muffler and resonator that I mated to the 3" downpipe.

With the stock exhaust, my little 2.3 makes 315hp and 306lb-ft of torque at the wheels SAFELY!!!!!!!

This car is soooooo killer to drive now!

Thanks Donnie ..... Exactly the feedback that I wanted to hear. I need to fix my belt problem and then I schedule another dyno date. I think that I will also up my timing to your 22 degree mark.

Benzmac,

That Tec II really makes a big difference. I'm in the process of installing the Tec II on my Porsche 928. Were thinking the car should make around 340 to 350 RWHP normally aspirated with all the upgrades I've done. After I get the engine properly broken-in, I'm planning a custom supercharger for the engine. I'm thinking around 8 psi of boost with a three core intercooler should do the trick. According to this calculator: http://www.superchargersonline.com/hp_calculator.asp?submit=1 I should see around 535 RWHP and on a car that weighs 2900 lbs it should move rather nicely.

I've been thinking about installing an Electromitive system on my SEC and with your returns I feel it will be worth the cost. The CIS system really saps the power and doesn't give a whole lot of control.

Damn.....you know what I was thinking........Donnie, you remember when you worked on my car the "antilock" brake light stayed on? Well, that was due to a fuse on the OVP relay......it has a red cap on top of it protecting the fuse....located behind the battery......the fuse was broke....so I replaced it.....now with the fuse in......the car starts like it is supposed to......and the cars idle is cherry............What I'm getting at is......on my first dyno run.....the guy had the car in 5th gear thinking it was 4th (dogleg).....so the 181.6HP and 204.4ft/lb was done in 5th gear..........the next run.....the fuse came loose and the antilock light came on.......he did the run in 4th and the car made signifigantly less power.....about 10HP and same w/ tq......the A/F ratio was more rich also. the rest of the runs were done with the fuse loose and the car idling wrong. damn. I think I only got one good run in.....and it was in 5th gear. Will the numbers be different in 3rd or 2nd gear as opposed to 5th? Thanks guys.......later.

Clinton,

YEs, HP and torque will change with the fuse blown.

Super SEC. I am using the TEC 3 which is FAR superior to the TEC 2. Be sure to talk to those guys! They are very good at what they do!

I used a TEC-II in my Bastard Turbo Benz. It has been running for years now. I think near 7 or 8. Hopefully I will get it on the road soon with the intercooler and bigger injectors. It is the best W123 I have driven. Plus it gets 26 MPG!

Talk to Jim at Electromotive he is one of the owners. His dad Alex was my buddy (RIP). He would always give me the latest scoops.

About the dyno.

After research and calculations, I found that HP and Torque will ALWAYS cross at 5252 when on the same SCALE.

The problem is, some dynos will auto scale to make HP look bigger.

Take a look and you will see that the HP is on one scale and the Torque is on another.
