Anybody ever have your car not find a gear and just bounce off the rev-limiter?
It happened to me 3 times before the summer. Always on the same turn, always at full throttle, with the car in a 4 wheel drift. My dealer replaced the computer, saying it was neccessary, but you never know. I felt it was anomaly that i was bringing out. Well today i took that same turn going the other way. 2/3rds of the way through, i have the gas hammered, and it goes to down shift and then nothing. I jerk forward, and the engine is bouncing off the revlimiter. My best guess is that i'm going just a little faster than redline for 1st gear. But the car tries to engage 1st. it sees the mistake and then cancels. Everytime, I let off the gas and coast to about 10mph and then it engages a gear, and everything is fine? This happens to me in mt 1989 300se, always at the same point every morning.
It is on a straight bit of road, where I put my foot down, but there is always traffic at the end, when I ease off the gas, the car seems to red-line and jerk a little bit before slowing. What I can't work out is it is always at the same time, in the same place. Weird!!!! Oliver |

I had the same problem in my 99 CLK's. During a turn sometimes it wouldn't shift and it would hit the limiter. One time the car went in to Neutral and woundn't go back until I shut down the car and restarted. This was fixed but They went thru a coupe trannys, computers, etc until they determined that it was
1. computer 2. a tranny switch |
