2000 E430 AMG what is it?

I'm new to MB cars and was wondering what the specs are for a 2000 E430 AMG. I can't seem to find any info on the car. It seems that every article is on the E55 and almost no info on the E430 AMG. What is an E430 AMG? Does AMG put an additional door plate in with technical information on it? My parents just bought one but really have no clue as to what it has/is. How do you identify the type of engine it has? The vehicle is marked at the rear E430 on one side and AMG on the other. Is it like buying a saleen mustang where everything is souped up or are there differing levels of AMG upgrades. Thanks for the help.

Hello and welcome!

To answer your questions, the car your parents have bought is an E430 with AMG badging. What this means is that the car probably has AMG wheels and the AMG bodykit. Alot of people and dealerships put AMG badging on their cars, particularly if they purchased AMG accessories. True AMG cars will have all the accessories plus (most importantly) the AMG tuned engine. Also check for more visual clues in the car. For example, the gauges and steering wheel will have AMG logos on them.

The car is an E class with the 4.3L engine in it, hence the 4-3-0. The AMG cars are designated by the letter and a two number engine identification (C32, C36,C43, E55, S55, CL55, SL55). Difference in perforamnce in the cars (2000 E430 and 2000 E55) are as follows: the E430 has about 275hp and the E55 has around 345hp. These are rough estimates off the top of my head, but you get the idea. Essentially, AMG uses the base MB engines and increase displacemement (4.3L and 5.5L is the same engine block) and fine tunes them to run better.

There are alot of MB enthusiasts throughout the state, including myself, and many gatherings are set up. Here's an example:Western WA GTG

Regards,
DLS

I have a C , a 3 & a 2 in my toolbox.
Would that make my C 230 a C 32, and if so, would it increase the resale value of my car ?

Depends who you sell it to. There's a sucker born every minute.
