Question Green high performance air filter

hi,

I have recently replaced air filters in my '92 500E > Green air filter (cone type), they were highly recomended by the auto tuning shop I deal with, claim 5-7 hp increase which maybe true I feel engine breaths better. pls share your opinions, rgrds

You have pretty hot weather over there. You probably have installed the short ram intake(cone shape). However, short ram does not help much under the hood in your hot weather. Perhaps you would like to consider the cold air intake instead My 2 cents.

Just remember, more air, more dirt, and more engine wear. 5 to 7 hp would never be noticed. So, why wear out your car sooner rather than later?

More air, more dirt, and more engine wear. Amazing analogy!!! I guess a Viper, Ferrari, or any AMG cars are destined to fail prematurely

Flash Gordon: Hey, when a Ferrari or

Vipper wear out it usually is at about 40K to 50K miles. You will never see one with 100k miles on it. Oh, of course they go like hell, but you pay a bundle to keep them "going". Came back from the middle east recently and was amazed at what the Army does to keep things from getting a lot of "grit". Its your call. Nobody cares what or how the air goes into your car. Carl Kiekaefer (who I once worked for) helped invent the paper type air intake filter to run his Chrysler 300's in the Pan American races in the fifties. He was "rule changed" out after winning 5 times. He went back to fast boats after this of course.
