Wow Bryan! How much quieter is the intertor with all the dynomatting?

Ashfin: Do you get points for having he original white-cased MB-battery when she's entered in a Concours event? If so, you might want to find an everyday battery and just keep the white-cased battery on a good-quality battery-tender. . .

Agreed all that dynomat must have made a huge difference in the car. Would be interesting to compare two 500's to hear the difference. Bryan now your ready for some serious tunes, any plans?

Neil,

Yes having the original battery will prevent points from being deducted in concours. If the batteries are discontinued another type of battery can be used so long as it uses the original mounting clamps and wires. But if someone had an original they would essentially be better off especially if two cars were identical except for the batteries. If I hear that batteries are going to be discontinued I'd probably buy a new one altogether and store it for show use only. My current one is in 98% condition, the stickers have some discoloring so a new one would be nice either way. Yes I'm a bit too anal.

I'm wondering now if the leather skins are also being discontinued and if I should make a move to buy the drivers side right now.

Definitely let me know if the leather's are going to be NLA. Maybe we can get a group discount. . .

Too bad the Sportline seats didn't come in MB-Tex, the would last so much longer!

BTW: did you find the original "cooling system" sticker, not the replacement black one ?

Nope I've exhausted every possible avenue including buying the entire overflow reservoir, all new stickers are black unforunately. But....Glen has been helping me out with this project. He's actually made an identical sticker using Photoshop, he's still working out some of the lettering details but it will be identical to the original. We just need to find a temperature resistant adhesive paper and use a clear tape to make it last in an engine environment. I'll have to ask him how it's going.

I'll do some research on the leather skins, haven't heard anything otherwise but then again I haven't asked either. I'll post it on Ecstasy if they are going to be NLA.

Here's a tip. Visit or call a Mercedes wrecking yard (e.g., Silverstar Recycling or Potomac German Auto) and ask them to pull a resevoir with a good decal/sticker on it.

Use some 3M Gum/Adhesive remover to release the sticker and re-laminate and stick back on your coolant resevoir!
