I was driving down Francis Lewis Blvd here in NY and all of a sudden this guy in a Bimmer cuts me off. I think I was going to slow so I caught up with him at the light. O boy did I have fun. Francis Lewis Blvd is a long piece of strip where everyone drags. It is longer than a 1/4 mile. You can easily hit 100MPH or so... Anyway, I wanted to show him what a Mercedes can do and he will learn not to cut anyone off ever again! At the light, as green approaches we go off.... He got a very good start cuz I think his car was stick but I caught rite up to him and dusted his ass away! I was punching it, and I mean punching it! I redlined it all the way to 7500RPMs and man was i flying. Thank god the cops didnt see me or I would of been in jail!! I was doing about 135MPH on the streets and all the lights were GREEN, hehehe. I showed him and his 540 not to mess with me or my Benz! I was planning to sell my 420 but I just fell inlove with it even more! Also, I am on the look out for a clean 560SEL any year as long as it is clean and cheap! Well maintained... no probs...

Good for you! Damn the bimmers. Same thing happened to me, I was gonna sell my CE but like 10 jackasses raced me in one night, in tuner cars or whatever, all lost. There sure orta be more like you.

ummm... 135 mph in an area with stoplights... what would you have done if one of them had turned red?

I think many of us are unfortunate enough to know somebody who has been seriously injured or killed by somebody who ran a light - maybe you should think about that next time. I also believe that you should find some way to get out your aggression to keep your ego in check - so maybe your car is faster than his, who really cares??? Do you actually think he's going to stop cutting people off because he got beat by a crazed man behind a three pointed star?

to put it in perspective, if you would have lost to him, would you just call it quits and never road race again? you didn't make the world better by putting somebody in their place - but you did make it that more dangerous.

A few problems here... There is/was no such thing as a 1996 BMW 540. BMW didn't manufacture the 5 series that year. Also a 540, halfway well-driven, would roast a 420SEL by nearly 2 full seconds in a 1/4 mile race. The guy either lost a cylinder or two or he wasn't trying, mainly because 135mph down a stoplight-filled road in the middle of town is downright ludicrous. Wake up man..

Every Weds. at Infineon raceway in Sonoma there are street legal drags. It only costs $20 to race your car all evening. They even have a program where teens can race the cops! Instead of placing others' lives at risk, see if there are any street legal drags in your area.

The last time I went to these races there was an e55 racing a m5.
The e55 was in the high 12.60's and the Bimmer was pumping solid 12.40's! I'm not sure what he did to his car but it was quick. There was also a Jag running 13's.

I was aware of the consequnces and I know it was extremely dangerous but then again, w/ only a few lights, like... 5-6 of them and at 3AM. No one is realy out

There is no justification for this type of behavior. Grow up man.

The new 211 E55's will run in the high 11's and the 210's will also run in the low 11's with a Kleeman or Renntech supercharger set-up.

I would be interested to see how you can get your 420SEL to pull 7500rpm.

There is just no way a 126 420SEL is going to wipe a BMW 540i, no matter what year. It's more likely that he lost interest.

I have to agree about the stupidity of raodracing like that, although I have done it in the past. I live near the Infineon Raceway, may make it over there. I need an ASR defeat switch, though.

Yeah, how can you even tell the engine is turning 7500 rpms since the tach stops registering after 7K.

My limiter kicks in at 6K.

Could this be an April Fools issue?

If the bimmer driver is as crazy, there is NO way that a 540i (auto or stick) can lose to a 420SEL in a drag race.

P.S. That's the one of the reasons that tomorrow I am getting my E39 540i 6-speed.
