New forum style irks, but works.

Maybe I'm getting old, but I'm finding it hard to acclimatise to the new design here on this forum. It looks almost the same as two other MB forums I frequent, as well as many others on other subjects.

The originalness has vanished, making this one look like every other vBulletin board setup. The familiarity with posters has gone, and in an occasional Groundhog Day moment I sometimes wonder which forum I'm on.

However it reinforces the fact that I won't be changing my own, rather differently styled, ebook "how-to" board. I made a change to the 7 year-old forum about a year ago to make it more distinctive, and its colors and design really brands it as different now.

Just my 2 pennysworth. Moan over.

Now I'll go back to planning my next series of accessory purchases for my SL500. I've ordered 1999-style rear lenses, AMG front light corners, 18" AMG rims, burl & chrome shift knob, and a chrome shift box surround.

Xmas is coming!

Me too...

What differences are there in the AMG front indicators compared to that of the post 98 (fully transparent)?

BTW - You wont regret the rears I think they were one of my best purchases this year. I've also had the bottom half colour coded too, you have to be a SL guru to tell mine's a pre '98 ;-)

Not certain, but you can see the same ones I've bought showing on the SL at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=1179616&posts=22&fid=25#M1299708

Makes a big difference, doesn't it?

From one guru to another, you'll need to upgrade your side mirrors now. The process never ends! :-)

Since I am a Software developer and have some experience in these bulliten board interfaces it looks as if they upgraded to a newer version. If you notice almost all forums out there have two looks, the old look and now the new one. Since this is an opensource BB i am sure it is just the new version that they are now running.

Yes. I'm slowly getting used to it, but there is still a style similarity to all other boards that make it a bit confusing. I have a rakish green design at my board (http://www.network54.com/Hide/Forum/11488) that tells the reader they are unmistakeably on my forum and no other.
