help, car dies abruptly then starts right up

Ok, I have a new problem developing, was sitting at a stop light car idleing perfectly then it died, I started it right back up it ran fine the rest of the day... The next day I was cruising down the road car running perfectly, then just died, I glided to the side and restarted right away and it ran perfectly the rest of the day.. yesterday another instance.. Now the car is doing it alot, several times in a row But the car is running perfectly before and after instances when cold with no sputtering of any kind. any ideas?? Keith

I would check out the fuel pump relay first.

Agreed. Fuel pump related. Check the pump, the relay, the fuse and it's not beyond possibilty that the fuel filter is clogged.

still need help!!!

well I did replace the fuel pump relay but the same problem still exists, cant trust the car now because once its warmed up it can die at any time and does repetitively... could it be electrical??? hard to beleive it would be the fuel pump since it starts right back up everytime... Keith

I would check out the ignition switch. I chased the same kind of gremlin for days, then found that the ignition switch had a short in it. This may not be your problem, but it is worth a look. I does sound like it is electrical as the engine shuts down, but as you know you have to turn the ignition off before you can restart, this would reset any relays, like the fuel relay. Maybe you got a bad one? Was it a new purchase from MB? Good luck!
Brian
