Although I wouldn't do it again, I also once removed the hardtop from my 450SL single handedly (had a date in 30 minutes and no one was around). My solution wasn't as elegant as BB's, but it didn't involve repeated trips to the gym. I just slid and folded the seats all the way forward, climbed in and lifted it off on my back. Didn't scratch anything, but setting it down was an ordeal. I stood there hunched over with the damn thing on my back for 5 minutes trying to figure out what to do with it. I eventually just knelt down and crawled out from under it. The hoist is in the mail...
