Soft top codes and SRS light

Thanks to the great info on the forum I did the code test on my 90' 500SL to find out what is wrong with my soft top. I came out with code 3 and 29 from the red blinking indicator light. I then earased the codes. It is working better now. I still have a problem though. I found code 29 to be related to the speed sensor, but I can not find the meaning of code #3. I would love to have some help with that. Thanks. Also, my SRS light does not shut off even though my seatbelt is fastened. Any ideas?

When the compartment cover for the soft top is in the closed position, a microswitch at each lock mechanism closes to signal the controller. The "3" code would occur when the controller is actuating the hydraulics to lock the compartment closed but does not receive confirmation from the right-side microswitch within a brief time limit.

As far as the SRS goes, you can retrieve diagnostic codes in a manner very similar to the one you used for the soft top. The differences are that you will work with socket #6 on the diagnostic connector and you will need an inexpensive LED connected between socket #16 (battery voltage) and socket #6 to view the pulses. The LED I like to use is Radio Shack's 276-209 for 99 cents.
