Question Finding a leak in my top

I had a new top installed on my 1990 300SL in September 2003. Until now its never leaked. Now whenever it rains hard I find the carpet is soaked behind the Driver's seat which sometimes spreads completely under the seat. Obviously, this isn't good. I am unable to find any sign of the leak other then the soaked carpet. It's almost as if the water comes from underneath the car, but that doesn't seem very likely. Have any of you experienced similar problems and found a source that wasn't readily apparent?
