have a 95 500sl. the speedo reads much faster than i am actually going, about 40 to 50 mph faster. there is no jumping or variation. is there a sensor that can be cleaned? My mechanic wanted to replace the whole cluster to the tune of $700.00 I thought i would try you guys first. Thanks alot

The problem is probably with the speedometer. Unfortunately, the only way I know to verify this is with a signal generator or an oscilloscope -- common items in an electronics lab but scarce in most people's homes.
You might take a look at this website: www.mrwhizard.com. They repair clusters very inexpensively. |
